Routine inspections are an important part of any tenancy, helping ensure the property is being well cared for and identifying any maintenance issues before they become bigger problems. If you have an upcoming inspection, here are a few simple tips to help you feel prepared:
A tidy home makes a great impression. Make sure floors are vacuumed or mopped, surfaces are wiped down, and bathrooms and kitchens are clean. We’re not looking for perfection – just a general standard of cleanliness.
Proper ventilation helps prevent mould and mildew, especially in bathrooms and laundries. If you’ve noticed any mould build-up, give it a clean with mould remover beforehand. Let us know if it’s a recurring issue so we can investigate further.
Don’t forget the outside! Mow the lawn, pull any weeds, and sweep paths or driveways. If your lease includes responsibility for the garden, keeping it neat is part of the inspection.
We’re not just looking for issues – we’re also checking if anything needs fixing. Let us know about leaking taps, cracked tiles, or anything that’s not working as it should. Reporting things early helps us address them before they become costly problems.
If you have pets, do a quick check for smells or mess. A bit of extra airing out or vacuuming goes a long way in keeping the home fresh.
Do I need to be home for the inspection?
Not at all. Your Property Manager will have a set of keys and can carry out the inspection without you being present. However, if you’d prefer to be there and can’t make the scheduled time, feel free to get in touch. We’ll do our best to re-schedule, though it’s not always possible depending on availability.
Routine inspections are nothing to stress about – they’re simply part of ensuring your home stays safe, comfortable, and well-maintained.
